Justin Nieves

Sr. Director, Project Management

Justin Nieves is a Senior Director of Project Management at Scale Microgrids. He started his project management career as an Engineering Project Manager for a structural precast concrete manufacture in Winchester, VA. He then transitioned U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Middle East District as a Civilian Project Manager where he managed multimillion dollar military construction projects in Kuwait for US and foreign militaries. Justin was passionate about the clean energy transition and joined Scale Microgrids in 2020. At Scale, Justin has directed the successful implementation of over 50MW of clean energy projects and assisted with numerous other facets of the organization’s tremendous growth. He has experience in a wide array energy markets which include California, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. Currently, Justin is leading Scale’s flagship microgrid project at Gallaudet University which combines CHP, Battery Storage and Community Solar behind 3 utility meters – a first for Washington DC. In addition, Justin leads the execution of numerous front of the meter community solar projects in New York and Pennsylvania. Justin has a Masters Degree in Engineering Management from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a registered Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute. Justin is approaching his 18th year in the U.S Air Force National Guard. Justin currently lives in Winchester, Virginia with his wife and 3 children.
