Soboba Casino Resort
Scale will build and install a microgrid for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians at its Soboba Casino Resort that will serve as both an economic asset for the tribe and an emergency cooling center in the event of a community-wide power outage.
Historically, Tribal communities face higher utility service costs, interconnection fees, and frequency of power outages, making the energy cost savings and reliability benefits of on-site distributed energy solutions extremely appealing. On a typical day, the Soboba microgrid will optimize its use of the grid and on-site DERs to maximize cost savings. During extended grid outages, the microgrid will be able to provide backup power for the resort as well as cooling and other emergency services for the local community.
