Trinity Fruit Company
Scale will deploy a microgrid that uses advanced controls to integrate solar, energy storage, and backup dispatchable generation to provide clean energy-powered resilience and further reduce the overall environmental footprint of the Trinity Fruit Company facility.
Trinity Fruit Company is one of the premier growers, packers and shippers of fresh fruits in California’s Central Valley. However, like many California businesses, it faces energy resilience challenges from wildfires as well as Public Safety Power Shutoffs called by the utility to prevent wildfires during high-risk weather conditions.
To ensure reliable, clean energy supply during even multi-day outages, Scale has designed a microgrid including solar installations on two carport canopies, battery storage, and a backup generator. The microgrid will generate everyday cost savings and emission reductions during normal conditions, and it can "island" from the utility grid to maintain operations during blackouts.

The Trinity Microgrid
The Trinity microgrid combines solar, battery storage, and dispatchable generation, with advanced controls optimizing the use of each resource to maximize savings and ensure reliability. Scale owns and operates the system under a microgrid service agreement (MSA), enabling Trinity to save over $100,000 a year in electricity costs with $0 up front cost.
