Acme Smoked Fish
Located in the heart of Brooklyn, Acme Smoked Fish is one of the largest smoked fish manufacturers in the country. After incorporating in October 2016, Scale Microgrids completed its first on-site energy project for Acme in June 2017
The Acme microgrid project included the design, engineering, and installation services for a 815kW combined heat and power (CHP) system that provides electricity and hot water to the company’s processing facility. The system is paired with Acme' existing on-site generation system and leverages Scale’s microgrid software and remote monitoring platform.
This configuration has allowed Acme to completely disconnect their facility from the utility, earning a unique distinction as one of the only industrial facilities in New York to operate completely off-grid.

The ACME Microgrid
ACME's Brooklyn processing facility is completely autonomous from local utility ConEdison. Instead, its microgrid has kept the facility 100% operational throughout all major storms and grid outages over the course of the project’s life. During past grid outages, ACME has even been asked to produce food for other competing facilities that have lost power.
